Question 3 - Audience feedback from questionnaires

We got a number of people to watch and review our documentary. Asked them a series of questions that enabled us to see whether our documentary was up to scratch. We were worried about what people would have to say about the documentary as at first I dont think we were quite as confident about it compared other fellow students in our class. We managed to gain a positive response from people in our target audience bracket and this enabled us to feel positive about what had achieved. 100% of the feedback given was positive with 9/10 saying that they thought it was an entertaining and interesting topic to talk about for a documentary. all 8 students said that they would love to watch the documentary in full, all the way through.

Edit Decision sheets

Tuesday, 10 February 2015

Update: Ben Leaving

Due to Ben's departure we are concentrating on adding the final touches to the documentary. Also we are making final adjustments to the magazine and radio trailer as part of our coursework portfolio. Ben's decision has effected us slightly as he was the most knowledgable and experienced when it came to the editing aspect of creating our coursework portfolio. However, we have gained new skills as we have had to manage our own devices and pick up the editing techniques that would have been part of Ben's responsibility.

Magazine Progress

In terms of our Magazine, we have used some photos from the internet as well as using screenshots from out documentary for the expert photos and the film snapshots. The layout has been completed and some of the detail is beginning to take shape, we just need to change and add a few elements to make it more professional looking. The article itself is still incomplete so this also needs to be finished before we continue to edit.

Here is the Final finished product which we have managed to complete to the best of our abilities to make sure it looks professional and tidy. We don't think we could have added anything more to make this any better and we are proud of our design. We think it will appeal to the audience of TV & Satellite week as it has use of bold colours and a compact style to the design.

Draft of Magazine

This is our first draft for our magazine double page spread article for our documentary. We are currently in the process of finishing off our Radio Trailer and have researched into the magazine genre for documentaries. The skills that we learnt from our AS brief, we were able to apply for the drafting and research stages of our magazine. We have decided to follow the conventions of a typical TV guide/documentary double page spread. For this we have decided to include a masthead, subheading, main image, article, drop quotes and images related to the article (for this we want to take screen shots, take selected pictures, from the documentary). We also want to include a film rail across the bottom of the page, we want to include images of horror and action film posters and dvd covers. We thought this would be a good idea as it is relevant to our topic of documentary and will incise the audience to stay on the page and read the article. Also to make this film rail have a purpose, the film posters and dvd front covers will be taken from the documentary, for example the trailer of 'Saw' included in the film montage at the beginning go the documentary, their film and poster will therefore feature in this idea.

Double Page Spread Analysis

Creating the Radio Advert

We were going to use Garage Band on the Mac's to create our radio advert as we wanted it to be professional and we could add in other sound elements to layer up a realistic radio advert. However when we wanted to import some of the sound from our documentary to the sequence, the sound failed to copy correctly. We finally made a decision to instead move our clips and voice over to Adobe Premier instead and to use this software to actually create the advert. This was a lot easier as we had a good understanding of how to use it because we had previously used it to make the documentary element of our coursework.
